Transportation is provided for students who qualify. Students who live 11/2 mile away or more from the school qualifies for transportation. If a student does not qualify for transportation, parents are required to provide it everyday including on Saturdays and during the summer.

Our academic program holds high standards for our students with a focus in English and Mathematics. The KSCS teaching staff exceeds New York State Charter School requirements, and the curriculum includes: more time in English and math than most Buffalo schools, a high-energy learning culture that tolerates no excuses for failure; a strict discipline system; and, meeting or exceeding the New York State Board of regents Standards. To ensure students master what is taught they will be required to complete approximately two (2) hours of homework nightly (including independent reading). In addition, KSCS fosters active parent involvement through the school’s organized, volunteer KPA (KIPP Parent Association).

What does KIPP stand for?
KIPP is an acronym for the Knowledge Is Power Program. The KIPP program is a nonprofit organization that provides educational leadership training for educators and then assists and supports them as they open successful middle schools throughout the country. The KIPP program began as 2 exemplary schools (one in Houston and one in the Bronx) and has now grown to include 32 schools (17 schools will open in the summer of 2003).
